Class of 2021 Scholarship Fund

As many of you know, Shaykh AbdulNasir’s father, Shaykh Abdul Hameed, fell ill and was in the hospital for much of the year and is still recovering. Despite that, Shaykh AbdulNasir continued to teach us and make time for us, check in on us while juggling so much. We all know, and have seen, just how committed Shaykh is to this cause and despite everything, he continued to teach. He shared with our class that when his father fell ill, he specifically told Shaykh, “You have to keep teaching.” 

We are all beneficiaries of the dedication and du’as of Shaykh’s beloved father. For this reason, the class of 2021 wanted to do something special in his honor and thus we have created a scholarship in honor of Shaykh Abdul Hameed Jangda which will annually sponsor a student and cover their studies entirely. We have done so in hopes and with the du’a that the reward of this and whatever benefit that comes and the students that are developed through this become a source of continuous reward for Shaykh Abdul Hameed.  

Many of us have tasted the sweetness of studying our religion and becoming closer to Allah and can attest that there is nothing else in the world that is more valuable. As our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) says:

قالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - ﷺ: "إذا ماتَ الإنْسانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إلّا مِن ثَلاثَةِ أشْياءَ: صَدَقَةٍ جارِيَةٍ، أوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ، أوْ ولَدٍ صالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ" رَواهُ مُسْلِمٌ. 

When someone passes away, all of his actions are cut off except for three things: ongoing charity, knowledge which others continue to benefit from, and pious children. These things continue to benefit a person not just when they’re alive but when they pass away as well. 

The Prophet (ﷺ) also teaches us that scholars are the inheritors of the prophets. The Prophets don’t leave any monetary amount as inheritance, but what they leave behind is knowledge to be inherited, and whoever inherits it has received a great fortune. 

قالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - ﷺ: "إنَّ العُلَماءَ ورَثَةُ الأنْبِياءِ، وإنَّ الأنْبِياءَ لَمْ يُوَرِّثُوا دِينارًا ولا دِرْهَمًا، وإنَّما ورَّثُوا العِلْمَ، فَمَن أخَذَهُ أخَذَ بِحَظٍّ وافِر" رَواهُ أحْمَدُ والتِّرْمِذِيُّ، وأبُو داوُدَ، وابْنُ ماجَه. 

We hope that this scholarship will be of benefit to Shaykh Abdul Hameed, the students who receive the award, and all of the generous donors who donated any amount to assist us in spreading the knowledge of Islam and the inheritance of our beloved Prophets. Please continue to make du’a for Shaykh Abdul Hameed’s health.
